About The Position

Who we are: Since 1956, Lewer has served as an advocate for independent business owners who seek to protect what they’ve built and prepare for the future. In 1991, our student division was formed to protect people around the world. Lewer offers a concierge approach to employee and student insurance by providing tailored benefit strategies designed to create healthier businesses, families, and individuals. What you'll do at Lewer: Roles and Responsibilities As the Data Engineer, you design, maintain, and document the Lewer Companies data architecture, ETL processes, and data flow. You ensure business data is reliably collected, integrated, stored, backed up, scheduled, and monitored to support accurate reporting, analytics, and operational needs while maintaining data integrity, availability, and security. You also combine business intelligence with AI innovation to shape the future of data strategy . Your Key Areas of Impact Organizational Intelligence: You play a central role in cultivating a culture of evidence-based decision-making. Through data pipeline development and ELT/ETL management, you build scalable systems that extract data from a variety of sources (APIs, CRM tools, applications, web traffic) and execute ETL/ELT processes (extract, transform, load) to clean, reform, aggregate, and structure raw data into readable formats. Finally, you automate data workflows using orchestration tools to ensure continuous data delivery without manual intervention. Infrastructure & Data Architecture: You design and maintain storage solutions like enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, and lake houses. You optimize database performance by fine-tuning queries, managing data partitioning, and scaling the big data infrastructure to minimize lag and bottlenecks. Data Governance & Security: You implement security protocols and access controls to safeguard data systems against unauthorized access, leaks, or breaches. You enforce data quality standards by building monitoring systems that flag anomalies, corrupt data, or broken streams before they disrupt downstream workflows. You protect the Lewer Companies through compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements. Cross-Functional Collaboration: You support Technology and Analytics teams by structuring complex data sets required to train machine learning models and populate business dashboards. You translate business requirements from stakeholders and executive leadership into robust, technical data models, to improve company decision making.
