About The Position

Northstrat is seeking a Data Engineer to join the agile development team. The team builds and maintains ETL pipelines that enable full spectrum data operation from ingest to query exceeding current and expected business value requirements through multiple significant experiences. As an individual contributing member of the team, you will participate in our fully agile development process and have the opportunity to work with modern tools and technologies, and you will be encouraged to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. The work environment is a hybrid one, with a mix of remote and in-person work. Requirements

  • Strong working knowledge and experience developing ETL Pipelines.
  • Experience with big data systems, complex structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand technical complexities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to the situation.
  • Inquisitive nature, responsiveness, and excellent testing and quality assurance skills.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
  • At least 5 years of minimum total relevant experience.
  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or technical degree or industry experience equivalent.
  • Current or Active Top-Secret Clearance is required, SCI eligible.
  • Experience with programming languages Python and Java.
  • Fluency with data extraction, custom translation development, and loading including data prep and labeling to enable data analytics.
  • Familiarity with various log formats such as JSON, XML, and others.
  • Ability to decompose technical problems and troubleshoot system and data flow issues.
  • Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
  • Experience with the Linux operating system.
  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
  • Familiarity with network and other cyber security logs and information (windows logs, firewall logs, etc.).
  • Experience with working on data from acquisition to end display/usage.
  • Experience troubleshooting and investigating errors and data problems at scale.
  • Must have a DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification (i.e. Security+) or willing to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Sterling, VA office.

Nice To Haves

  • 7 years (minimum) total relevant experience.
  • Experience with the underlying architectures for one or more legacy Unified Platform data platforms (Unified Platform GovCloud, DoD Big Data Platform, JCWA systems) or similar commercial systems consistent with the SOO (Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud-based systems or AI/ ML development.
  • Experience with SQL through tools such as trino.
  • Prior Experience supporting cyber and/or network security operations within a large enterprise, as either an analyst, engineer, architect, or developer.
  • Experience with data flow, management (i.e. Kafka, NiFi, and SQS solutions).
  • Familiarity with Zoom/Teams/Meet style team meetings.
  • Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines.
  • Participate in a fully agile development process.

  • Develop ETL Pipelines.
  • Support government data acquisition, analysis, and/or sharing efforts.
  • Troubleshoot system and data flow issues.
  • Work in a fast-paced, small business environment independently and with the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1-2 days per week at our Sterling, VA office.
  • Support cyber and/or network security operations within a large enterprise, as either an analyst, engineer, architect, or developer.
  • Develop with Kubernetes environments.
