About The Position

Sundt Construction, Inc. has a full-time Data Engineer Senior position in Tempe, Arizona. This role involves end-to-end management of data across the organization, including design, implementation, maintenance, discovery, and governance. The Data Engineer Senior will collaborate with stakeholders, business intelligence teams, report builders, and developers to ensure the efficiency of data consumption at all levels. Responsibilities include building and maintaining databases for integrations and custom applications, creating a metadata repository for data flow tracking and business self-discovery, and designing and implementing data guidelines for high-quality data delivery. The role also entails developing and maintaining data warehousing systems for reporting and analysis, documenting data models, pipelines, schemas, and quality checks, and educating teams on data resource utilization while upholding data quality and security standards. Additionally, the position requires managing and enhancing Power BI deployments, optimizing data platforms, ensuring data privacy, security, and compliance, and utilizing Power BI for dataset creation, DAX measures, and star schema data modeling. Staying current with emerging technologies and best practices is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or related field
  • 4 years experience required
  • Background check and drug test required

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end management of data across the organization, including design, implementation, maintenance, discovery, and governance
  • Collaboration with stakeholders, business intelligence teams, report builders, and developers
  • Ensure efficiency of data consumption at all levels
  • Build and maintain databases to store data for integrations and custom in-house developed applications
  • Build metadata repository to track data flow throughout the organization to determine system of record and allow for business self-discovery
  • Design, develop, and implement data guidelines to ensure high quality data is delivered on time
  • Develop and maintain data warehousing systems to be used for reporting and analysis
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including data models, data pipelines, database schemas, and data quality checks
  • Educate and support teams in fully leveraging data resources, ensuring high data quality and security standards across the company
  • Manage and enhance Power BI deployments, overseeing tenant and premium instances for optimal performance
  • Manage data platforms to ensure correct configuration and performance optimization
  • Manage data privacy, security, & compliance while enforcing data classification and protection requirements
  • Utilize Power BI for creating datasets, writing DAX measures, and understanding data modeling with star schema
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and best practices
