About The Position

GDIT delivers critical all‑source intelligence on foreign military and civilian cyber actors, their supporting infrastructure, and the broader ecosystems in which these capabilities operate. This intelligence directly supports foundational military intelligence (FMI) requirements for the joint force and ensures alignment with the mission portfolios. On this program, GDIT provides a broad range of analytic and mission‑enabling support to produce operationally relevant FMI and scientific and technical intelligence (S&TI) for cyberspace operations. Our support is not limited to analysis; we engage across the entire intelligence cycle—planning, collection, processing, exploitation, production, and dissemination—while also executing integrated mission management functions. All support is focused on enhancing the customers’ ability to enable both defensive and offensive cyberspace operations. The Data Management and Systems Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and operating advanced data management systems in support of intelligence mission objectives. This role defines data storage, access, integration, and management strategies across diverse data environments and digital systems. The engineer collaborates closely with data users to build optimal data architectures and structures, ensuring efficient throughput and high‑performance queries. The position involves selecting and configuring backend database technologies, optimizing data pipelines, and maintaining secure and certified environments. The engineer also provides technical expertise in data science methodologies, supports IT operations, evaluates emerging technologies to enhance mission capabilities, and leads initiatives to advance database and visualization systems.

Requirements

8 + years of related experience
US Citizenship Required: Yes
TS/SCI with active poly
Principal level: Bachelor’s degree with 8 years’ experience.
Senior Principal level: Master’s degree with 12 years related experience or bachelor’s degree with 17 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and operate data management systems to meet intelligence mission needs.
Develop strategies for storing, accessing, integrating, and managing data across diverse systems and regimes.
Work with data users to determine, create, and maintain optimal data architectures, structures, and systems.
Plan, design, and optimize data throughput, query performance, and overall data pipeline efficiency.
Participate in the selection, configuration, and utilization of backend database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, HPC).
Develop, maintain, update, and refine database solutions and related infrastructure.
Maintain ISSO certification and ensure compliance with applicable security standards.
Provide technical expertise in IT activities, including advanced data exploration, analysis, and synthesis.
Research, apply, and support data science techniques to store, manipulate, transform, and present information.
Perform and report key performance indicators for data science initiatives to leadership.
Evaluate new and emerging technologies to enhance mission capabilities.
Lead efforts to develop and enhance database capabilities and computer‑based visualization systems.
