About The Position

TISTA Science and Technology is seeking a Data Engineer / Migration Specialist to plan and execute data migrations from legacy systems, including VistA, Maximo, and DMLSS, to modern platforms. The role involves developing migration plans, building ETL/ELT pipelines, mapping and validating data, and supporting extraction, analytics requests, and data archive decommissioning. The position is remote in the USA and requires the ability to obtain a Tier 2 / Moderate Risk Public Trust and a VA PIV credential.

Requirements

At least 6 years of experience in ETL, data migration, or database development (Mid / Level II).
SQL and Python skills.
PySpark or Spark SQL skills.
Experience with data mapping, validation, and reconciliation for migrations.
Bachelor's degree.
Must be able to obtain a Tier 2 / Moderate Risk Public Trust and a VA PIV credential.

Nice To Haves

Experience migrating from VistA, Maximo, or DMLSS.
Experience with data masking for lower environments.
Knowledge of HL7, FHIR, or EDI data formats.
Certified (Maximo) Deployment Professional.
Databricks Certified Data Engineer certification.
Databricks Certified Generative AI Engineer certification.

Responsibilities

Plan and run migrations from legacy systems (VistA, Maximo, DMLSS) to modern platforms and write data migration plans.
Build ETL/ELT pipelines in Databricks using PySpark and Spark SQL, and in VALIP.
Write and maintain data mapping and validation plans; reconcile and validate data after each load.
Mask and sanitize production data for lower environments.
Support data extraction, analytics requests, and decommissioning data archives.
