About The Position

The Manager of Enterprise Data Solutions Development will be responsible for supervising and planning data solutions development, automation, reporting, and data operations. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and supervising all team activities in providing high quality software technology solutions that address business objectives. The manager establishes and executes a vision for the delivery of data and information solutions to VyStar’s key stakeholders, including senior management and internal staff. Position is responsible for executing this vision through the design and oversight of an enterprise-wide data warehouse, data lake, data development, automation, deployment, and adoption including reporting tools. The manager acts as the subject matter expert within the organization and is able to liaise with technical staff, VP/SVPs, product development team, IT managers, and other VyStar stakeholders to ensure data development, delivery, and operations goals and objectives are met. Under the direction of the VP/SVP, this position provides leadership and oversight to all Data Solutions staff. Additionally, the candidate will provide leadership in the overall development and expansion of data solutions as well as system integration including the cloud.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required (i.e., Computer Engineering or Computer Information Science) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with delivering and implementing data development solutions
  • 10+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational database technologies while ensuring best practices are followed.
  • Experience with cloud services (Microsoft Azure preferred).
  • Microsoft Office (Advanced Excel skills – Pivot Tables, charts & graphs, formulas, etc.)
  • Strong T-SQL and ETL development experience. SSIS and Azure Data Factory preferred.
  • 8+ years working with SQL Server and relational database management systems
  • Familiarity with standard project management principles and guidelines
  • 4+ years working as Team Lead in IT or equivalent role managing employees.
  • Financial services industry experience preferred
  • Experience and solid understanding of fundamental data solutions and Data Warehouse design and development methodologies and best practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, e.g., Data Lake, Data Catalog, Blob Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Machine Learning Studio, and Azure Monitor.
  • Working knowledge of Power Platform including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
  • Experience with establishing technology guidelines based on best practices in enterprise data architecture and software development.
  • Extensive database development experience programming complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile principles including scrum.
  • Ability to follow and enhance software development standards (SDLC) for systems design, development, verification, and implementation.
  • Ability to multi-task, work independently and manage unstructured tasks within specific guidelines and time constraints.
  • Eagerness to gain proficiency and earn certifications in new technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project
  • Knowledge of SharePoint and experience working in the role as a contributor.
  • Proficiency with Azure DevOps or similar tool for code repository and work item tracking, as well as capacity and release planning.

Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise a database development team. Influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Oversee automation solutions to reduce manual work and create efficiencies
  • Lead design sessions with developers, business analysts and other team members to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed solution.
  • Support data architecture to provide best solutions to meet the business needs.
  • Identify risks/issues and recommend solutions. Follow-up to make sure the risks/issues were addressed by the team.
  • Implement principles, policies, standards, and guidelines for data management
  • Facilitate scrum meetings and sprint planning sessions. Provide training and support to the team on agile best practices.
  • Responsible for data-support use cases including member-focused, operation-focused, and market/industry-focused analytics, as well as opportunities in artificial intelligence.
  • Continuously improve data related solutions, processes, and procedures, identifying opportunities for data alignment and re-use.
  • Participate in continuous personal and department performance improvement activities.
  • Provide overall leadership in the areas of integration governance, quality control, and auditing of information, including working directly with application developers and clients to resolve data conflicts and inappropriate data usage.
  • Represent the team at project meetings and provide estimates for the work
  • Maintain responsibility for planning, budgeting, and monitoring long term strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain accountability for team member development and writing performance reviews.
