About The Position

This internship provides rotational exposure to Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Experimentation Lab (DEL) operations within a cleared Department of War environment. The intern gains hands-on experience supporting advanced research and development initiatives, helping the team identify, recommend, develop, and integrate reliable and secure IT solutions for challenges related to DTRA RD’s current and evolving mission in the DEL enterprise.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a degree program; junior or senior level preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Interim or active Secret clearance, or ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Coursework in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Familiarity with scripting and programming languages.
• Familiarity with LLMs and prompt engineering.

Responsibilities

• Assist the DEL team with developing automation tools, data delivery, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Assist the team with data lake direction and with fine-tuning and customizing large language models (LLMs) for specific tasks and domains.
• Support infrastructure automation and platform creation through Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Help automate tasks for DEL environments to improve efficiency.
• Adhere to physical security, information security, and property accountability requirements in a cleared environment.
