About The Position

The Data Engineer I develops and maintains robust data pipelines using AI and SQL, manages data migrations and ETL processes, and delivers custom reporting solutions for Greenshades clients. The role combines data integration and file construction with compliance support for custom report deliverables. The Data Engineer I collaborates with clients and internal teams, manages project work through an Azure DevOps Kanban board, and helps ensure data flows reliably across systems to meet client and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of experience with ETL and data migration processes in a SQL-focused role.
• Proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio, including SQL Server 2012+, SSRS, and SSIS.
• Hands-on experience building or working with EDI 834 files and ancillary benefit enrollment formats.
• Experience managing work items and project tasks using Azure DevOps Kanban boards.
• Strong proficiency in Excel and experience with object-oriented programming.
• Experience with common scripting languages.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Jira, GitHub, and Confluence.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Oracle SQLPlus.
• BS/BA in Computer Science or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build, test, and maintain EDI 834 benefit enrollment files and associated ancillary file formats, ensuring accuracy and compliance with carrier and trading partner specifications.
• Create custom reports and dashboards for internal and client stakeholders, including retirement reports, HSA and benefit file feeds, WOTC, and related reports.
• Manage and track project work items using an Azure DevOps Kanban board, keeping statuses and prioritization accurate throughout the project lifecycle.
• Work with clients and internal teams to understand data requirements and deliver appropriate solutions.
• Ensure data security and adherence to relevant regulations and industry best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
