About The Position

The Data Engineer for our Healthcare Analytics & Innovation team supports our administrative and clinical leaders and teams focused on achieving the Quadruple Aim. This individual is a critical part of our Healthcare Analytics and Innovation team responsible for the data processing, preparation and delivery of multiple curated data sets to several internal databases. The Data Engineer builds systems that collect, manage, and convert raw data into usable information for data scientists and business analysts to interpret and utilize. This individual implements and enforces data integrity standards and procedures to ensure data is managed consistently and is appropriately integrated within data marts and databases. This individual will be primarily focused on the processing of adjudicated claims from payer partners and the creation, management and maintenance of the provider, payer and member datasets for downstream consumption and use in advanced analytics to serve Population Health and Clinical Transformation use cases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Sociology, Public Health, Engineering, or related Quantitative or Social Science discipline (Required)
  • 3+ years working with complex data management, analytics or big data environments (Required)
  • Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases (Required)
  • Experience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets (Required)
  • Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools (Required)
  • Experience with applied ETL development and integration between multiple data source systems. (Required)
  • Experience being part of strategic projects with high visibility and impact with many internal and external teams involved. (Required)
  • Experience managing collaborative data science/analytics/data management projects (Required)
  • Detailed analytic problem-solving skills, documentation, communication and flexibility with strong attention to detail in high pressure situations (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to work independently, results oriented, and flexibility with new or varied responsibilities (Required proficiency)
  • Ability to develop data pipelines to support AI and machine learning model development (Required proficiency)

  • Healthcare (Hospital/Health System, Payor, or Life Sciences) experience (Preferred)
  • Experience and working knowledge of Electronic Health Records (Epic and Allscripts), claims-based reporting, and fluency with healthcare coding (Preferred)
  • Experience with Azure cloud services (Preferred)
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Strongly Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture
  • Manipulate and integrate data from various sources into data marts/databases
  • Assemble large, complex data sets that meet business and analytic requirements
  • Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and when applicable and necessary, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
  • Leverage automation techniques to maintain and optimize the processes required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources
  • Develop and maintain current documentation of procedures, dataflows, architecture diagrams, and testing/QA protocols
  • Work with internal (Business and Analytics Teams) and external stakeholders (Payers and other applicable data providers) to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs
  • Work collaboratively with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems
  • Maintain updated knowledge of and uses different data integration tools and processes
  • Oversee requirements for information transfer related to HEDIS and risk adjustment reporting
  • Maintains collaborative, team relationships with peers and colleagues in order to effectively contribute to the working group's achievement of goals, and to help foster a positive work environment
