Data Consultant
About The Position
BCBST is hiring a Data Consultant to support Actuarial processes by producing routine and ad-hoc reports, as well as maintaining, modifying, and augmenting the underlying code of those reports. They will also work closely with the Actuarial team to conceptualize and develop new reports that enhance organizational insights. This role involves developing and maintaining a database of past claims to support the actuarial processes of determining premium rates for health insurance products. The consultant will analyze large amounts of complex data for drivers of business and/or industry trends and ensure that ad hoc data requests are handled accurately and timely, presented clearly and organized.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in a quantitative/ research discipline
- 5 years of Reporting, data analysis, or similar experience required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
- Proficient oral and written communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Capacity to solve problems and manage multiple assignments with critical deadlines
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to meet schedule deadlines and departmental goals
- Must possess ability to maintain professional relationships with vendors and other external partners
Nice To Haves
- Experience in reporting and data analysis
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and SAS Enterprise Guide
- Capability of managing multiple assignments independently
- Experience with healthcare data
Responsibilities
- Produce routine and ad-hoc reports.
