About The Position

This role focuses on collecting condition monitoring data, performing routine lubrication tasks, and interacting with customers in industrial environments. The Data Collector will be responsible for ensuring data accuracy, maintaining equipment lubrication, and adhering to strict health, safety, and quality standards. The position is primarily field-based at customer facilities in the Sarnia area.

Requirements

  • Practical understanding of basic mechanical systems (pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans).
  • Comfortable working independently on customer sites.
  • Strong awareness of industrial health and safety practices.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driving license.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to condition monitoring or reliability services (vibration, ultrasound, oil analysis).
  • Experience collecting or handling condition monitoring data.
  • Knowledge of lubrication best practices or contamination control.
  • Mechanical or maintenance-related trade qualification.
  • Basic condition monitoring or lubrication training (formal or in-house).
  • Willingness to undertake further AVT-provided training and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Collect routine condition monitoring data including basic vibration, temperature readings, and visual/mechanical inspections.
  • Record, upload, validate, and quality-check collected data using AVT-approved tools and software.
  • Flag abnormal conditions, defects, or safety concerns to the AVT Site Owner or reliability engineers.
  • Carry out routine lubrication tasks on rotating and reciprocating equipment (greasing, oil top-ups, oil changes, filter/breather changes).
  • Collect oil samples using correct sampling methods.
  • Maintain good housekeeping around lubrication points and equipment.
  • Work safely and professionally within operational industrial environments.
  • Represent AVT Reliability positively on customer sites.
  • Liaise daily with customer maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Ensure all work complies with customer procedures, site rules, and safety expectations.
  • Work in full compliance with AVT Reliability and customer health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Follow permits, risk assessments, method statements, and safe work procedures.
  • Report near misses, incidents, and unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Support AVT’s quality management system and continuous improvement culture.
  • Complete job sheets, lubrication records, inspection checklists, and digital entries accurately and on time.
  • Maintain basic records of work completed, consumables used, and observations.
  • Escalate issues that may impact asset reliability, safety, or service delivery.
