The Data Center Technician prepares, stages, sets up, and performs startups and shutdowns of equipment such as racks, hard drives, and switches according to specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails. They perform post-execution quality checks to verify proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs). The role involves performing diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifying the cause(s) of issues, and replacing faulty components. Additionally, the technician will decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes, such as memory upgrades and OS rebuilds, following standard procedures with minimal guidance. They are also responsible for following procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads.
