Hardware & Rack Operations: Install, remove, and replace: Servers (rack mount and blade), Network devices (switches, routers, firewalls), Storage arrays Identify hardware components: CPUs, RAM, NICs, HBAs, power supplies, disks Perform rack & stack following standard layouts and weight distribution Basic troubleshooting of failed components (LED codes, error indicators) Cabling & Physical Connectivity Install and manage: Fiber (LC, SC) and copper (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a) Follow labeling standards and structured cabling practices Trace cables end to end using documentation or tone testers Maintain airflow and cable management (front to back discipline) Power & Environmental Systems Safely work with: A/B power feeds, PDUs (intelligent and basic) Understand power concepts: Single phase vs three phase (basic), Voltage, amperage, load balancing (foundational) Identify and escalate environmental issues: Hot spots, Humidity or temperature alarms Network & System Basics Basic understanding of: IP addressing (IPv4 fundamentals), VLAN concepts, Link lights and port statuses Connect devices to correct: Switch ports, Redundant network paths Console into devices when instructed (serial, iLO, DRAC, IPMI) Incident Response & Troubleshooting Follow runbooks and SOPs with minimal supervision Perform guided troubleshooting: Power cycle equipment safely, Replace FRUs (Field Replaceable Units), Verify restoration of service indicators Know when to escalate to L3 / remote engineers Ticketing & Documentation Update tickets accurately with: Actions taken, Timestamps, Photos (rack, serial numbers, cabling) Follow change management procedures Maintain attention to detail during audits and inventory checks Customer & Remote Support Interaction Act as hands and eyes for remote engineers Communicate clearly over: Ticket systems, Phone or chat during live incidents Data Center Safety Follow ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) procedures Safe lifting practices (servers, UPS components) Awareness of: Electrical hazards, Locked cages and access controls About Stefanini Group The Stefanini Group is a global provider of offshore, onshore and near shore outsourcing, IT digital consulting, systems integration, application and strategic staffing services to Fortune 1000 enterprises around the world. Requirements

  • Experience with data center hardware installation, removal, and replacement.
  • Knowledge of rack and stack operations for servers, network devices, and storage systems.
  • Familiarity with fiber and copper cabling, cable management, and labeling standards.
  • Basic understanding of power systems, including A/B feeds, PDUs, and load balancing.
  • Foundational networking knowledge, including IP addressing, VLAN concepts, and port connectivity.
  • Experience with console access tools such as iLO, DRAC, IPMI, and serial console.
  • Ability to follow runbooks, troubleshoot issues, and escalate when needed.
  • Strong ticketing and documentation skills.
  • Understanding of ESD procedures and data center safety practices.

Responsibilities

  • Install, remove, and replace servers, network devices, and storage arrays.
  • Identify hardware components such as CPUs, RAM, NICs, HBAs, power supplies, and disks.
  • Perform rack and stack operations following standard layouts and weight distribution.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of failed components using LED codes and error indicators.
  • Install and manage fiber and copper cabling, adhering to labeling standards and structured cabling practices.
  • Trace cables end to end using documentation or tone testers.
  • Maintain airflow and cable management.
  • Safely work with A/B power feeds and PDUs.
  • Understand basic power concepts like single phase vs. three phase, voltage, amperage, and load balancing.
  • Identify and escalate environmental issues such as hot spots, humidity, or temperature alarms.
  • Connect devices to correct switch ports and redundant network paths.
  • Console into devices when instructed using serial, iLO, DRAC, or IPMI.
  • Follow runbooks and SOPs with minimal supervision.
  • Perform guided troubleshooting, including power cycling equipment and replacing FRUs.
  • Verify restoration of service indicators.
  • Escalate issues to L3/remote engineers when necessary.
  • Update tickets accurately with actions taken, timestamps, and photos.
  • Follow change management procedures.
  • Maintain attention to detail during audits and inventory checks.
  • Act as hands and eyes for remote engineers.
  • Communicate clearly over ticket systems, phone, or chat during live incidents.
  • Follow ESD procedures.
  • Practice safe lifting techniques for servers and UPS components.
  • Maintain awareness of electrical hazards, locked cages, and access controls.
