About The Position

This is a Contract position based out of Goodyear, AZ. The role involves installing, racking, stacking, cabling, and decommissioning various data center equipment. Responsibilities include performing structured cabling, executing hardware deployments, troubleshooting issues, conducting audits, documenting activities, and supporting break/fix tasks. The technician will coordinate with other teams, follow safety and change management procedures, and participate in on-call rotations and after-hours maintenance.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience working in a data center, telecommunications, networking, or critical facility environment.
  • Experience with rack and stack deployment of servers, switches, routers, and storage equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with structured cabling systems, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Experience tracing, testing, labeling, and troubleshooting network cabling infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with server hardware components and basic networking concepts.
  • Ability to read rack elevations, cable schedules, floor plans, and technical documentation.
  • Experience working from ticket queues, work orders, and standard operating procedures.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to safely lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds and perform physical work in a data center environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, rack, stack, cable, and decommission servers, network devices, storage systems, and related equipment.
  • Perform structured cabling activities, including installation, termination, labeling, testing, and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic cabling.
  • Execute hardware deployments and refresh projects according to established standards and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot server, network, and cabling issues to minimize downtime and maintain operational excellence.
  • Perform cable audits, rack audits, and inventory management activities.
  • Document all installations, moves, adds, and changes within asset management and ticketing systems.
  • Support break/fix activities involving servers, networking equipment, and data center infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams during equipment installations and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Follow data center safety procedures, change management processes, and operational best practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and occasional after-hours maintenance activities as required.
