About The Position

The Data Center Technician (DCT) is responsible for preparing, staging, setting up, and performing startups and shutdowns of data center equipment such as racks, hard drives, and switches. This role involves performing post-execution quality checks to ensure proper grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling according to safety protocols and deployment standards. The technician will also perform diagnostics and troubleshooting, identify the causes of issues, and replace faulty components. Additionally, they will decommission hardware for simple changes and refreshes and communicate, report, and escalate incidents to Datacenter Technician Leads.

Requirements

  • Top Secret Clearance Required for All Roles
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
  • 1+ year(s) experience supporting IT equipment or related technology.
  • Basic understanding of how to use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and/or holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous datacenter experience a plus
  • 6 L2 Techs (Previous DC or Fiber Experience preferred, but need some kind of tech skills or training.)

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, stages, sets up, and performs startups and shutdowns (e.g., racks, hard drives, switches) according to specific instructions, checklists, guides, standard protocols, and emails.
  • Performs post-execution quality checks and verifies that grounding, staging, labeling, and cabling are set up properly according to safety protocols, deployment standards, and planned Network Design Tasks (NDTs).
  • Performs diagnostics and troubleshooting following standard procedures, quickly identifies the cause(s) of issues, and replaces faulty components.
  • Decommissions hardware for simple changes and refreshes (e.g., memory upgrades, OS rebuilds) following standard procedures with minimal guidance.
  • Follows procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate Datacenter Technician Leads.
