Catalyst Velocity: Data Center Technician Training Program – Dona Ana County, NM - US Veteran & Military Spouse Opportunity. Build your career in data center technology. Oracle’s Catalyst Velocity program is designed for individuals with a foundation in technology, technical operations, or related experience who are ready to take the next step. Catalyst Velocity is a 12-week paid work and training program that prepares participants for a career in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) data center operations. Through hands-on experience, technical training, mentorship, and career development, participants will strengthen the skills needed to succeed as a Data Center Technician. The goal of the program is for trainees to transition into permanent, full-time Data Center Technician positions upon successful completion of the program, based on available opportunities and applicable employment requirements.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, Networking, Data Center Operations, or a related technical discipline; OR Four (4) years of military service with relevant technical, operational, communications, logistics, aviation, electronics, maintenance, or infrastructure experience; OR Two (2) years of experience in data center operations, technical support, IT infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, electronics, or related fields.
Minimum 18 years of age
Demonstrated interest in technology and a desire to build a career in data center operations.
Ability to learn technical concepts and follow documented procedures with precision.
Strong communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills.
Basic understanding of mathematical and computational concepts.
Basic computer skills. Experience with a MAC is a plus though not required.
Professional attitude with a customer-focused mindset.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
Ability to climb ladders, work at height, and operate in confined spaces as required.
Ability to perform physically demanding work in a data center environment, including standing or walking for most of the shift.
Ability to work non-standard schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and shift-based assignments.
Access to reliable personal transportation to travel to, and between, assigned data center buildings during the shift, as needed.
Ability to travel locally and up to 5% domestically as required.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience supporting data center or cloud infrastructure environments.
Experience with ServiceNow, JIRA, or similar ticket management platforms.
Familiarity with enterprise server, storage, and networking equipment.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
Linux command-line experience.
Experience with RAID, fiber optics, and structured cabling systems.
ESD, electrical safety, ladder, powered equipment, server lift, or related certifications.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale IT infrastructure.
Working knowledge of server hardware, storage, and networking technologies.
Ability to troubleshoot routine operational and technical issues with limited supervision.
Strong procedural discipline and documentation skills.
Demonstrated attention to detail, quality, safety, and operational rigor.
Ability to identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Ability to mentor and support developing technicians.
Effective communication across teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Perform rack-and-stack activities for servers, network devices, and supporting infrastructure.
Assist with server deployments, hardware upgrades, component replacements, and decommissioning activities.
Perform basic break/fix tasks following approved procedures.
Support hardware lifecycle management.
Learn troubleshooting techniques and escalate issues when appropriate.
Install, organize, and label copper and fiber cabling.
Assist with network equipment installations.
Verify cable integrity.
Learn networking fundamentals and data center communication standards.
Complete assigned work using approved ticketing systems.
Document completed work and operational activities.
Follow service-level agreements (SLAs), operational procedures, and escalation processes.
Receive, stage, track, audit, and ship equipment.
Maintain inventory records.
Support warehouse and material handling activities.
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), and safety requirements.
Follow Oracle security, compliance, and change management processes.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
