About The Position

The Data Center Tech is responsible for providing high-quality service in a data center facility to take excellent care of our customers, build relationships, question things, work hard, work smart, and enjoy the experience. The work will involve the installation of power, fiber and switchboard cable, and telecommunications equipment in Data Center and other Telecom facilities. Installers should be familiar with and/or are trained with iron work/bays/equipment rack installation, blueprint/schematic reading. The role requires physically placing, removing, or modifying non-working equipment such as cable trays, racking, data equipment cabinets and frames, data servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, firewalls, and fuse panels. It also involves physically routing cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data, identifying, labeling, and terminating these cables. The technician will conduct tests, document performance, resolve equipment/technical issues, and review/analyze work orders, drawings, records, and manuals. They will perform quality validation, interact with various internal teams, and perform other duties as requested by their manager.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two Years of experience.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft programs and applications.
  • Proficient in use of IOS and/or Android applications.
  • Ability to trouble shoot cabling issues as well as resolve problems.
  • Ability to trouble shoot hardware and software issues as well as resolve problems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Good computer soft skills required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical or college degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Installation of telecommunications equipment and associated infrastructure per customer standards.
  • Act as a customer contact. Interface with customers and local supervisors to clarify project status.
  • Work well within a team and demonstrate some leadership ability.
  • Plan and layout installation activities to meet dates and budgeted hours. Oversee other personnel when required.
  • Physically placing, removing, or modifying non-working equipment (cable trays, racking, cabinets, frames, servers, switches, routers, repeaters, bridges, gateways, multiplexers, transceivers, firewalls, fuse panels).
  • Physically routing cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data.
  • Identify, label, and terminate cables that supply AC and/or DC power or transmit data.
  • Conduct test and document performance characteristics of hardware and software.
  • Resolve equipment / technical issues.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret work orders, drawings, records, and manuals.
  • Perform quality validation on in-process and completed work.
  • Interact with all members of the organization; Installation, Engineering and Project Management.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Manager.
