About The Position

The Digital Sector of Leidos is seeking a Data Center System Administrator to support data center operations. The System Administrator will rack and stack equipment, support upgrades and consolidations, ensure power is transferred if there is a power failure, and provide general data center system administrator support. They will support hybrid cloud-hosting alternatives. This individual will work in a team environment to ensure mission needs are met and ensure functionality of capabilities of customers.

Requirements

  • Experience with interacting with customers to handle service inquiries and problems.
  • Experience working in a data center.
  • Knowledge of data center standards and best practices.
  • Knowledge of power infrastructure layout from generation to rack level, redundancy levels and techniques, rack standards, properties and selection criteria, and power rail/strip options, cold aisle/hot aisle containment, and standards for fire suppression, security and safety.
  • Experience with Tier 2 system administration to include connecting crash carts and configuring remote management interfaces to restore administrator remote access and following prescribed procedures to restore servers.
  • Experience troubleshooting issues in a growing environment.
  • Time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Track record of working effectively within a team and support to peers toward improved processes and results.
  • Experience with IT Service Management (ITSM) products such as ServiceNow.
  • Experience mentoring others.
  • Candidate must, at a minimum, meet DoDM 8140.03 (previously DoD 8570) – IT System Admin Intermediate certification requirements (Cloud+, GICSP, SSCP, Security+ CE, GSEC, or higher)
  • Candidate must have a BS with 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Due to the nature of the government contracts we support, US Citizenship is required.
  • An active TS/SCI with Poly required for Position or TS/SCI and willingness to obtain and maintain a required specific polygraph.

Responsibilities

  • Be able to work with and employ rack level redundancy techniques, rack standards, properties and selection criteria, and power rail/strip options, cold aisle/hot aisle containment, and standards for fire suppression, security and safety.
  • Support implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of physical equipment to include servers, storage arrays, network switches etc. Rapidly distinguish isolated system problems vs data center-wide outages.
  • Coordinate with customers and stakeholders to collect data, conduct analysis, develop, and implement solutions associated with incident tickets and requirements.
  • Develop solutions to complex technical issues.
  • Provide follow-up reports (technical findings, feedback, resolution steps taken) for root cause analysis, engineering technical assessment and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support customer requirements in a 24/7/365 mission environment and be able to respond to after-hours emergency calls (power/cooling disruption).
  • Update operations and maintenance documentation for 24/7/365 personnel.
  • Mentor junior team members to include temporary military support for major projects.
