Data Center Surge Technician (Travel Team)

EOSSalt Lake City, UT
Onsite

About The Position

EOS IT Solutions is seeking highly skilled and adaptable Data Center Surge Technicians to join a centralized travel team supporting data center operations across North America. This team is deployed to support new site turn-ups, large-scale infrastructure deployments, SLA recovery efforts, and critical operational gaps. Technicians are expected to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and deliver immediate impact with minimal onboarding. This position requires frequent travel to project sites and data centers. Candidates who enjoy traveling and working in different environments will thrive in this role. Surge Technicians are deployed based on business need, including new data center builds, expansions, and site turn-ups; high-volume deployment events (rack lands, infrastructure scaling); SLA recovery scenarios (backlog reduction, performance stabilization); and temporary coverage for staffing gaps or critical skill shortages.

  • Strong experience with rack and stack, cabling, and hardware installation
  • Proven experience with fiber (splicing strongly preferred, OTDR testing, troubleshooting)
  • Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and x86 server hardware
  • Experience with low voltage systems and industry standards (BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA)
  • Ability to read technical diagrams, port maps, and infrastructure documentation
  • Experience with ticketing/workflow systems (e.g., ServiceNow or equivalent)
