About The Position

Armada is seeking a Data Center Structural Engineer to support its new Galleon and Leviathan product lines. This role will be responsible for the structural integrity of Modular Data Center (MDC) deployments across diverse global conditions, including seismic, wind, snow, and soil. The engineer will manage the structural aspects from initial site assessment through design, certification, fabrication, and installation. Key responsibilities include vetting international vendors and certifying engineers, assessing site-specific risks, developing standardized structural designs for MDC components, and acting as the primary structural liaison between Armada's product engineering team and external partners like fabricators and general contractors. The position is remote-based with an estimated 20-30% travel requirement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).
  • Professional Engineer (PE or SE) license or international equivalent (e.g., Chartered Engineer).
  • 5–7 years of hands-on experience with structural analysis and design of steel and reinforced concrete structures, including foundations, platforms, and equipment anchorage.
  • Ability to independently perform structural analysis and design in-house for new products and site conditions.
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis/design software and building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI).
  • Ability to navigate comparable international structural codes (e.g., NCC, Eurocode) across multiple countries.
  • Experience with seismic, wind, snow, and soil load conditions.
  • Comfort operating with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Willingness and ability to travel approximately 20–30%.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with modular, prefabricated, or ISO-container-based construction methodologies, ideally for data centers or other mission-critical/industrial facilities.
  • Exposure to data center–specific structural considerations: heavy equipment anchorage (generators, transformers, chillers), pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), and raised platform/foundation systems.
  • Experience vetting, directing, and holding external structural engineering vendors and certifying engineers accountable across concurrent, geographically dispersed projects.
  • Experience standing up design standards, templates, or governance processes for a growing team or portfolio.
  • Background collaborating directly with product/hardware engineering teams, fabricators, general contractors, and local consultants across multiple regions or countries.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, vet, and liaise with domestic/international structural engineering vendors and local certifying engineers to ensure compliance with local building codes.
  • Conduct early-stage structural due diligence for new domestic/international sites, evaluating seismic, wind, snow, and soil conditions, and mapping local code requirements.
  • Develop and maintain template structural designs for MDC components such as raised platforms, ISO container connections, foundations, pads, anchorage, and piping supports.
  • Perform in-house structural analysis and design for new Armada products and unique site conditions.
  • Act as the structural point of contact, reviewing shop drawings and integration details to ensure built structures match certified designs.
  • Build and maintain structural requirement guidelines, site-readiness checklists, and certification workflows by geography.
  • Track open structural items across active sites and provide final sign-off for operational readiness.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary and equity
  • Medical, dental, and vision (subsidized cost)
  • Health savings accounts (HSA), flexible spending accounts (FSA), and dependent care FSAs (DCFSA)
  • Retirement plan options, including 401(k) and Roth 401(k)
  • Unlimited paid time off (PTO)
  • 14 paid company holidays per year
