About The Position

Blueprint is seeking a Data Center Operations & Systems Technician to join their team. This role involves independently executing data center installations, repairs, deployments, troubleshooting, and operational response activities across server, network, storage, cabling, and supporting systems. The technician will coordinate assigned work, maintain technical and asset documentation, and contribute to improving operational reliability and deployment readiness, all while adhering to client best practices and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, systems support, network support, infrastructure deployment, or a comparable technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently install, maintain, troubleshoot, and decommission enterprise server, network, storage, and cabling infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, firewalls, wireless networking, domain access, and connectivity troubleshooting.
  • Experience with server imaging and deployment environments such as MDT, WDS, PXE, or equivalent tools, including patching and baseline configuration.
  • Experience using ticketing, inventory, asset-management, monitoring, and project-tracking systems with strong documentation discipline.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities, identify operational risk, communicate clearly with technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and work with limited supervision.
  • Ability to work onsite, perform hands-on equipment tasks, and meet the physical and scheduling requirements of the assigned data center environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, networking, engineering technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • CompTIA Network+, Server+, Security+, Microsoft, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent certification.
  • Experience updating network diagrams, implementation plans, maintenance procedures, or technical knowledge bases.
  • Experience supporting high-availability, safety-sensitive, or compliance-controlled infrastructure environments.

Responsibilities

  • Independently install, rack, stack, cable, configure, test, and maintain servers, network devices, storage systems, rack power distribution units, and associated rack and MOR cabling.
  • Perform and validate server and hardware repairs, component replacements, rack moves, equipment deployments, and IT equipment decommissioning in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Monitor server, network, storage, and device health; analyze alerts, tickets, and logs; and resolve moderately complex hardware, software, imaging, connectivity, and configuration issues.
  • Configure and validate switches, firewalls, wireless access points, IP addresses, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, domain access, and device-to-device communication within approved scope.
  • Image and deploy servers using MDT, WDS, PXE, or equivalent environments; apply operating system updates, patches, firmware, and baseline configurations and validate successful completion.
  • Plan and coordinate assigned installations, maintenance activities, and technical deployments, including implementation notes, readiness requirements, dependencies, rollback considerations, and validation steps.
  • Perform daily system checks, preventive maintenance, and operational response activities to sustain safe, secure, and reliable data center services.
  • Back up system and network configuration files, verify successful completion, and maintain recovery-related evidence and documentation.
  • Maintain technical procedures, network diagrams, maintenance histories, repair records, configuration details, inventory data, and knowledge documentation.
  • Prioritize assigned equipment and technical resources based on operational urgency, business need, project readiness, and stakeholder requirements.
  • Generate operational, inventory, compliance, and project-status reports; identify trends and escalate risks, blockers, and recurring issues with recommended next steps.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior technicians and contribute to training, peer review, documentation quality, and continuous process improvement.
