About The Position

PGTEK is seeking hands-on Data Center Technicians to support a high-performance data center environment in Memphis, TN. This is a great opportunity for technicians who enjoy working with enterprise hardware, troubleshooting technical issues, and getting hands-on with servers and data center infrastructure. Technicians will primarily support Dell PowerEdge servers, performing hardware troubleshooting, break/fix repairs, component replacement, and preventative maintenance. The role will also involve replacing GPU cards and other components supporting AI infrastructure, along with opportunities to assist with basic server deployment, rack-and-stack, cabling, and related data center activities. While previous data center or server experience is preferred, early-career candidates and graduates of technical training programs are encouraged to apply. Training could be provided to candidates who demonstrate strong technical fundamentals, mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn, and the right attitude.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting, repairing, building, or maintaining computers, servers, electronics, or other technical hardware.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and components.
  • Ability to use hand tools and safely work with electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to follow technical procedures and instructions.
  • Comfortable working onsite in a large-scale data center environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous data center or server hardware experience.
  • Experience working with Dell PowerEdge servers.
  • Experience with server break/fix or field service.
  • Experience replacing server components such as motherboards, memory, CPUs, NICs, storage, or power supplies.
  • Experience working with GPUs or other high-performance computing hardware.
  • Experience with rack-and-stack, server installation, or data center deployments.
  • Basic Linux command-line experience.
  • Experience with structured cabling or network equipment.
  • Technical school, IT training program, or relevant industry certification.
  • Candidates coming out of technical schools, IT training programs, military technical programs, or other hands-on technology programs are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong foundation in computer hardware, enjoy taking things apart and figuring out how they work, and are eager to develop your data center skills.
  • Dependable, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where equipment needs to be diagnosed, repaired, and returned to service efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hands-on troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of Dell PowerEdge servers.
  • Diagnose and replace failed server components, including: Motherboards, DIMMs / memory, CPUs, Network interface cards, Hard drives / storage components, Power supplies, GPU cards and related hardware, Other server and infrastructure components as needed.
  • Support hardware break/fix activities in a large-scale data center environment.
  • Assist with the installation, removal, replacement, and upgrade of NVIDIA GPU hardware and other components supporting AI infrastructure.
  • Perform basic server installation and deployment activities as needed.
  • Assist with rack-and-stack activities, including mounting equipment, connecting cables, and organizing data center hardware.
  • Perform basic cabling and equipment connections.
  • Follow established procedures for hardware replacement, troubleshooting, documentation, and escalation.
  • Use ticketing and other tools to document work performed and maintain accurate records.
  • Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced data center environment.
  • Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and site personnel to resolve hardware issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other data center and hardware support duties as assigned.
