About The Position

MCIM is seeking a motivated, mechanically inclined Data Center Field Technician to help customers manage mission-critical facilities. This role is suited to people with military, mechanical, electrical, HVAC, industrial, or other technical backgrounds who want to develop a career in the data center industry. Previous data center experience is not required.

The technician travels to customer facilities, works alongside experienced technical professionals, and uses MCIM’s software platform to document critical infrastructure, support operating procedures, and help customers improve facility reliability. The role involves learning MCIM’s mobile Field Services application and supporting critical operations services at data centers, telecommunications centers, and other critical facilities.

The position also supports customer teams in using the MCIM platform, managing equipment information, and understanding its capabilities. Extensive travel is required, approximately 50–60%, with international travel possible when required.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, military training, trade school certification, or equivalent experience.
• Strong mechanical or technical aptitude and willingness to learn about critical infrastructure equipment and operations.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately collect, document, and manage information.
• Comfort with learning new software platforms, mobile applications, and technical processes.
• Strong communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers and team members.
• Ability to work independently in the field while following established processes and procedures.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel extensively, approximately 50–60%.
• Ability to obtain a passport and travel internationally when required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience or training in a technical, mechanical, facilities, construction, industrial, military, telecommunications, HVAC, electrical, or related environment.
• Previous data center experience is not required.

Responsibilities

• Visit data centers, telecommunications centers, and other critical facilities to identify, inventory, and document mechanical, electrical, and other infrastructure equipment.
• Accurately collect equipment information and maintain asset records in the MCIM platform.
• Assist in developing, reviewing, and organizing critical facility operating procedures, including maintenance and emergency operating procedures.
• Work with experienced team members to ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and aligned with established standards.
• Support the organization and validation of preventive maintenance schedules, equipment records, and maintenance activities in the MCIM platform.
• Help ensure critical assets are properly documented and associated with appropriate maintenance requirements.
• Learn and use MCIM’s mobile platform, including the Field Services application, to support customer critical operations services.
• Develop proficiency in MCIM’s software platform and assist customer teams with navigating the system, managing equipment information, and understanding platform capabilities.
• Collaborate with internal team members to support successful customer projects.
