About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This team supports all AWS data centers and the associated equipment, guaranteeing customers continuous access to innovation. The role involves tackling complex challenges within a supply chain with thousands of variables. The ideal candidate will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, collaborating across AWS to maintain high standards of safety and security while delivering infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost. Requirements

  • 2+ years of in a managerial/supervisory role with 5 or more direct reports experience
  • 3+ years of in industrial electrical or mechanical systems experience
  • 3+ years of administrative experience including Microsoft Office products experience
  • Must be able to work in an environment that involves walking, stooping, bending, and climbing to access equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology, or 5+ years of working in a data center or other mission critical environment with an emphasis on building and equipment operation experience
  • Experience communicating technical details verbally and in writing
  • Behavioral interviewing and hiring experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of the data center's critical physical infrastructure.
  • Ensure that all work performed within the space is done to high quality and without impact to internal/external customers.
  • Manage teams of 24x7 engineering technicians in all facets of their career.
  • Engage in improvement projects, often requiring reaching out to a variety of support teams, and drive them from conception to completion.
  • Coordinates daily with a multitude of third party vendors ensuring adherence to contracted SLAs.
  • Effectively and efficiently manage the operations budget and expenditures.
  • Routinely operate as the afterhours on-call Data Center Facility Manager for the data centers in the region. This will include responding to any issues within the data centers and managing the investigation, mitigation, and recovery of the issue(s).
  • Prioritize and assign tasks, coach and create documentation, guide and train staff on best practices.
  • Monitor and control expenditures, ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Drive projects from conception to completion, collaborate with support teams.
  • Ensure adherence to contracted service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Communicate complex technical information, adapting communication style for diverse stakeholders, including non-technical audiences.
  • Address urgent issues that may arise outside regular working hours.
  • Act as an escalation point for facilities-related issues, oversee routine and emergency services, ensure safety procedures are followed.
  • Prioritize team development and well-being while achieving operational goals.
  • Empower team members to reach their full potential.
  • Lift and move objects of varying weights, walk job sites in different terrains while maintaining balance and safety.
  • Support employees' diverse needs.
  • Work in noisy environments when required, utilize approved personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Coordinate and manage operations across different sites.
  • Provide on-site management for builders, five days a week.
