About The Position

The Data Center Engineer is responsible for the operational integrity, reliability, and compliance of data center facilities, including infrastructure supporting power, cooling, physical security, and hardware lifecycle management. This role performs hands-on technical work and coordinates with approved vendors to execute maintenance, installation, and incident response activities in accordance with Method of Procedure (MOP), change management, and customer-approved design standards.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of data center infrastructure (power, cooling, cabling, and physical security).
  • Demonstrated ability to execute technical procedures under strict change control and MOP governance.
  • Strong knowledge of asset lifecycle management, inventory systems, and CMDB integration.
  • Experience with incident response processes and facility alert systems.
  • Ability to clearly distinguish execution responsibilities from governance and approval authority.
  • Strong documentation skills with emphasis on audit readiness and compliance evidence.
  • Ability to coordinate with third-party vendors and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to process discipline.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 3–7 years of data center operations experience
  • Hands-on experience with: Rack/stack and cabling
  • Hands-on experience with: Power and cooling systems
  • Hands-on experience with: Asset and inventory management systems

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within regulated or compliance-driven environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, decommissioning, rack/stack, and cabling activities
  • Maintain structured cabling systems (fiber and copper)
  • Manage patch panels, cable integrity, and MAC (Move/Add/Change) activities.
  • Monitor UPS, PDUs, generators, and ATS Switch gear
  • Support cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH), environmental monitoring, and humidity controls to ensure thermal stability
  • Respond to infrastructure alerts and execute incident response procedures
  • Coordinate with vendors under approved MOPs and change windows
  • Maintain asset inventory and chain-of-custody documentation
  • Manage hardware logistics including receiving, staging, and shipping
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and safety standards
  • Support capacity planning and data center optimization
