About The Position

In this role you will focus on developing and sustaining solutions through communication and coordination with Apple Data Center teams and Business Groups to help deliver a solid infrastructure and services to meet global business objectives. We seek a self-starter, visionary team player with strong infrastructure cabling capabilities to drive standards as well as innovative methodologies to achieve these objectives who likes to travel to locations worldwide. The Data Center Operations (DCO) group is looking for a Site Service Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for deploying and maintaining servers and supporting fixtures and infrastructure in our remote locations globally. Help complete projects in the deployment and maintenance of compute servers, including cabling infrastructure and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) elements. Implement Data Center (DC) incident management and change control to prevent and manage failure scenarios. This includes recovering services and developing improvement plans to minimise future occurrences. Vendor management for infrastructure expansion, enforce compliance with technical specifications and quality standards. Lead material movements with Engineers, Project Managers and/or Customer Business teams to ensure timely delivery. Ensure required actions are implemented in Apple systems to facilitate job function. Identify issues and perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent future operational impact.

Requirements

  • Experience with DC operational tasks, including rack sizing, equipment installation and decommissioning.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, push, pull, reach and lift as required on a continuous basis with items that can weigh up to 34 kg.
  • Hands-on experience with various copper and fiber cabling structures.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, in both Chinese and English.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20-30% of your work schedule.
  • Capable of independent problem-solving and self-motivated.
  • 5+ years’ experience or related experience in a data center environment.
  • Strong communicator at all levels with excellent oral and written skills to a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to build and grow relationships and collaborate with other teams.
  • Prior experience in DC operations, supply chain, and DC construction.
  • Experience with DCIM tools.
  • Possess a global perspective with the ability to understand and work effectively in a culturally diverse organisation.
  • Ability to manage key stakeholder interests while at the same time managing conflicting priorities and business interests.
