About The Position

The Data Center Environmental Health & Safety Specialist plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of personnel and ensuring a safe work environment within the facility. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that comply with all relevant regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in occupational safety and health (OSH), Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 - 3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably within a data center environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA standards and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train, guide, and collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing tasks effectively and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • OSHA 30 course within the last five years.

  • Experience in CMMS usage
  • Prior experience in electrical safety and knowledge of data center operations can be considered valuable assets.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify and assess potential hazards, recommending corrective actions to mitigate risks.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to educate staff on proper procedures, emergency protocols, and hazard recognition.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safety-related activities, including inspections, training sessions, and incident reports.
  • Investigate safety incidents, analyze root causes, and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
  • Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Collaborate with management and other departments on safety initiatives and ensure effective communication of safety protocols.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness planning and conduct drills to ensure the team's readiness for various emergencies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Provide EHS training to employees at all levels, directly or with a Third Party Vendor, ensuring understanding of protocols.
  • Manage EHS programs from our Zero Waste program to Stretch and Flex.
