This opportunity is with a leading provider of mission-critical data centers as a Managed Services Provider, acting as an Owner's Representative for Construction Services. This firm offers a complete life cycle of solutions custom-fit to client requirements for mission-critical facilities. We are seeking a Data Center Construction Project Manager to support critical facility construction projects, upgrades, and retrofits in a production environment, acting on behalf of the Owner. This includes providing leadership to contractors and vendors, ensuring projects are delivered on budget and on time, and verifying that project scope and quality meet Company Design Standards and objectives. The successful candidate must be exceptionally organized and proficient in back-office tasks such as managing change orders, budgets, and paperwork.

Requirements

  • Experience managing Data Center Construction Projects as an Owner or as a General Contractor.
  • Data Center Project experience involving retrofits, upgrades, and capital improvement projects in a live data center environment.
  • Familiarity with the design process of building systems for data center and mission-critical projects.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in the Data Center Construction Industry.
  • Client Facing / Client relationship / Client Management skills.
  • Solid Construction Project Management experience.
  • Effective Communicator – emails, phone, and face-to-face.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Travel as needed to project sites.
  • Solid Admin skills.
  • Computer savvy: MS Project, Excel, P6 Oracle Primavera, AutoCAD a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • BA/BS a plus.
  • Belong and Attend professional organizations such as AFCOM, ASHRAE, 7x24 exchange, PTC, Datacenter Dynamics / DCD, Uptime, iMasons, Bisnow etc.
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military Veterans a huge plus!
  • Experience with Electrical / Mechanical: Navy nukes - EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power Generation, Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, Army National Guard, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain liaison with various contractors and vendors to manage day-to-day activities impacting the delivery of company’s critical facilities construction projects.
  • Ensure all day-to-day project responsibilities are met by contractors and vendors.
  • Manage projects including greenfields, brownfields, upgrades, or retrofits of data centers.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors as necessary.
  • Create and manage project schedules.
  • Develop project plans, including sizing, costs, budget, scheduling, timelines, and managing change orders.
  • Assist with reporting and RFPs to Contractors.
  • Deliver Built to Suit projects with a strong emphasis on value-engineering.
  • Drive Company Standards uniformly across all project participants and projects.
  • Identify, manage, and mitigate areas of concern regarding potential liabilities and risks (fee, company reputation, errors and omissions) to Management and Region Manager.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts, including progress billing, rental equipment, and income/expenses, to protect the company’s interests while maintaining good client relationships.
  • Represent the company in project meetings.
  • Act as a key liaison with managers of all company departments.
  • Maintain all logs required to track project progress.
