About The Position

The Data Center Building Engineer is responsible for delivery of best practice systems and problem resolution on all data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure (UPS, MV electrical systems, generators, cooling systems etc.). This role involves maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all building systems to maintain 100% Up-time. This includes fire/life safety, mechanical systems (HVAC, chillers, crac, crah, plumbing, controls), electrical systems (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, transformers), and hot water systems. The engineer will monitor operations, adjust, and maintain equipment, record readings, and analyze system operations to determine and correct any problems or malfunctions. They will also comply with departmental policies for hazardous materials, maintain a clean and safe workplace, learn site specifics to manage incidents, and handle work order management including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets. Understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures is also a key part of the role. Additional job duties may be required.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience working in a data center/critical facility.
  • Experience with building systems, including: UPS systems, emergency generators, and switchgears.
  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Google Suite and CMMS.
  • Ability to work different schedules.
  • Ability to work Holidays.
  • Ability to respond to site emergencies.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance of all building systems to ensure 100% uptime.
  • Ensuring continuous operation of fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, and hot water systems.
  • Monitoring and adjusting refrigeration, chilled water, air conditioning equipment, boilers, ventilating and water heaters, pumps, valves, piping, and filters.
  • Recording system readings and making necessary adjustments for proper equipment operation.
  • Analyzing system operations to determine the cause of problems and taking corrective action.
  • Complying with departmental policies for safe storage, usage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
  • Learning and understanding the data center site to manage incidents and events that put critical systems at risk.
  • Managing work orders, including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets.
  • Understanding and complying with emergency escalation procedures.
  • Performing additional job duties as required.
