About The Position

The Data and Business Intelligence Analyst delivers reporting and data analysis that support day-to-day decisions across sales, marketing, and operations at Benchmark Education. The role owns Power BI report and dashboard development, works with business stakeholders to translate questions into clear, trusted reporting, and develops an understanding of the data environment to ensure reporting is accurate and useful.

Requirements

• 2–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and report and dashboard development.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, or Postgres, including querying to analyze and validate data.
• Ability to learn and navigate an existing data environment, reverse-engineer data patterns and structures to infer relationships, and identify inconsistencies.
• Working knowledge of how data moves through a reporting pipeline sufficient to collaborate effectively with the data team.
• Functional understanding of advanced analytics concepts, including statistical or AI-based techniques, and when to apply them.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, particularly when explaining data and reporting to non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent organization and documentation skills, with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to independently own multiple reports and dashboards and prioritize competing requests.

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience building or maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Experience with advanced statistics, information science, or machine learning.
• Working understanding of Master Data Management techniques and tools.
• Experience with metadata standards and procedures in the publishing industry.
• Experience with ERP tools and processes.
• Experience with project management and implementation of best practices.

Responsibilities

• Work with stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into reporting and analysis requirements.
• Design, build, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards, including data models, DAX calculations, and row-level security where needed.
• Own recurring reports, including their development, maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates as business needs change.
• Write and optimize SQL queries against the data warehouse for reporting, ad hoc analysis, and data validation.
• Learn the structure and relationships within the data warehouse, navigate it independently, and flag inconsistencies.
• Partner with data team members to communicate reporting requirements and validate that data feeding reports and dashboards is accurate and complete.
• Present business performance and trends effectively through data visualization.
• Respond to ad hoc reporting requests accurately and promptly.
• Support stakeholders and other data and report consumers across the business.
