As an Data Architect Senior within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Cleveland, OH or Pittsburgh, PA. We are seeking a Senior Data Architect to define, govern, and evolve the Asset Management Group (AMG) domain data architecture supporting analytical, operational, and digital capabilities across the organization. This role is responsible for establishing architectural direction, defining, or adhering to target-state data platforms, and guiding the implementation of modern data ecosystems that enable data-driven business capabilities. The architect will partner with engineering teams, enterprise architecture, application development, and business stakeholders to ensure that data solutions are scalable, secure, governed, and aligned with long-term strategic objectives. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in distributed data platforms, large-scale data processing, and modern data architecture patterns, with experience leading technology modernization initiatives and defining reference architectures for enterprise data environments.

Requirements

  • University / college degree
  • Industry relevant experience is typically 8+ years.

Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain target-state architecture for domain analytical and operational data platforms.
  • Lead architecture efforts to evolve legacy data platforms toward modern lakehouse and open-data architectures.
  • Define migration strategies for existing Hadoop-based analytical environments and data workloads.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to improve scalability, interoperability, operational efficiency, and long-term sustainability.
  • Drive adoption of modern data management practices, storage architectures, metadata strategies, and platform operating models.
  • Help develop architecture roadmaps that align business priorities, technology strategy, and data modernization initiatives.
  • Provide architectural leadership for strategic initiatives involving analytics, operational intelligence, AI/ML, digital applications, and enterprise integration.
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide guidance to delivery teams throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to align data solutions with broader technology strategies.
  • Mentor engineers, solution architects, and development teams on data architecture best practices.
  • Designs, develops and optimizes highly complex, specialized data warehouses, with flexible and scalable data and ETL architecture, to support business users and Business Intelligence (BI) applications.
  • Analyzes business intelligence data and makes recommendations for data warehouse growth and integration for the enterprise.
  • Works with IT and business customers to develop requirements for designing the overall data warehouse architecture.
  • Provides support and technical guidance to ensure architecture and framework are aligned with BI application needs.
  • Leads and consults on the implementation and integration of data warehouses; ensures data is current and meets organizational quality and integrity standards.
