About The Position

The Data Architect II is responsible for designing and implementing database architecture, design, analysis, migration, and security. This role involves developing strategies for data acquisitions, archive recovery, and database implementation. The Data Architect II will design and build relational databases, conceptual and logical data models, and flowcharts, as well as develop Databases, Data Warehouses, and Multidimensional Databases. A key part of the role is developing strategies for Data Archiving, MDM, Reporting, and analytical needs, and creating database solutions to store and retrieve information. The individual will act as a custodian of data, providing insights and expertise for business decisions. Responsibilities include migrating data from legacy systems, defining and enforcing organizational-level data strategy, and providing operational support for Management Information Systems (MIS). The role also involves developing database solutions by designing the proposed system, defining the database’s physical structure and functional capabilities, and security, backup, and recovery specifications. Additionally, the Data Architect II will provide database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems, while also mentoring junior team members and peers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent, from an accredited university, in a data processing discipline or equivalent industry experience.
  • 12 years of experience in database design and analysis.
  • 6 years of experience in Oracle 11g or above.
  • Experience in Enterprise Database development with at least 5 years of database design experience.
  • Deep understanding of tools used in the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience in Oracle 11g, MS SQL Server.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL technologies.
  • Well-versed in designing and implementing Data Marts, Multi Data Models, Star, and Snowflake Schemas.
  • Knowledge and experience in MSBI technologies.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as PL/SQL code.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
  • Proven capability to train employees in technically complex areas.
  • Proactive, energetic self-starter with good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

Nice To Haves

  • IBM info sphere DataStage knowledge is a plus.
  • Cloud exposure to Azure is a plus.
  • Prior experience with Oracle DBA is preferred.
  • Knowledge of AGILE development principles is preferred.
