About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled, technically robust Group Manager to lead our Data Engineering and API Development teams. In this pivotal role, you will balance strategic people management with deep, hands-on technical leadership to oversee the design, development, and execution of enterprise-scale cloud data pipelines and robust API ecosystems. The ideal candidate possesses a strong, active background in distributed computing (Apache Spark, Databricks) and cloud-native orchestration (Spark on Kubernetes/EKS, MWAA). A critical focus of this role will be leading the migration of legacy on-premises data workloads to the cloud, requiring a solid understanding of secure hybrid cloud networking (AWS Direct Connect, AWS PrivateLink), modern data warehousing (Snowflake, S3, Glue), and API development. You will drive agile delivery, mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver high-performance, secure, and scalable data solutions.

Requirements

  • 6+ years hands-on Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala) — internals, tuning, DataFrames
  • Spark on Kubernetes (EKS) deployment & management
  • AWS: S3, Glue, MWAA, PrivateLink, Direct Connect
  • Data Platforms: Snowflake, Databricks (Delta Lake / Lakehouse)
  • API Engineering: Java/Python/Go, Apigee/Kong, microservices
  • DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Jenkins/GitLab CI/GitHub Actions
  • 4+ years managing engineering teams (data + software/API)
  • Management Experience: 4+ years of experience directly managing engineering teams (preferably managing both data and software/API engineers).
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align technical roadmaps with broader business objectives and drive execution.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of overall experience in software engineering and data engineering, with a focus on cloud-scale data platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • Active certifications in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified Data Engineer, Advanced Networking, Solutions Architect), Databricks, or Snowflake.
  • Experience with data mesh concepts and data governance frameworks in highly regulated industries (e.g., Finance, Healthcare).

  • Hands-on Apache Spark (PySpark/Scala) development; Spark on Kubernetes (EKS); data lake/warehouse on S3, Glue, Snowflake, Databricks; MWAA orchestration
  • Lead on-prem (Hadoop, Teradata, RDBMS) to cloud migrations; secure hybrid connectivity via AWS Direct Connect & PrivateLink
  • Build RESTful/gRPC APIs; microservices architecture; API gateway integration; OAuth2/OIDC authentication
  • Enforce CI/CD (GitOps), code quality standards; optimize cloud costs (Databricks, Snowflake, EKS); ensure GDPR, CCPA, SOC2 compliance
