About The Position

The Director of Data and Impact is responsible for managing our data systems, overseeing data collection and analysis, evaluating the performance of our programs, and preparing reports that illustrate our impact using quantitative and qualitative methods. The Director of Data and Impact supervises a team of 3 Data Administrative Assistants. This is an onsite position with the possibility of a weekly remote day.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in data management, public policy, statistics, or a related field required, or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years or more of experience with databases and preparing reports.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to translate data into clear narratives.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Highly organized with excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and stakeholder needs in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure data is properly collected and recorded with an emphasis on consistency, completeness, correctness, and timeliness.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors and CFL leadership to design and implement data collection frameworks.
  • Conduct quantitative analysis of our programs, cross-referencing data sets within and across our three impact areas.
  • Observe and report on significant trends.
  • Manage access to and train staff in the safe use of our data systems.
  • Develop or update data security and retention policies.
  • Maintain a directory of the various data systems our funders require us to use including who has access to them and what data is recorded.
  • Lead projects to modernize our data recording processes.
  • Develop and oversee frameworks for measuring program outcomes and impact.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to our founders and ensure they are submitted on time.
  • Compose narratives that describe the scope and impact of our work by converting statistical data into compelling stories.
  • Collaborate on the preparation of programmatic reports for our Board of Directors.
  • Update our tracking system with the due dates of reports.
  • Run ad hoc reports for CFL leadership and Program Directors.
  • Lead the preparation and publication of white papers.
  • Collaborate with our grant writing team in the preparation of grant applications.
  • Collaborate with our communication department in the preparation of graphics.
  • Prepare client stories in an ethical and non-exploitative manner.
  • Participate in weekly development meetings.
  • Liaise and build relationships with funders.
  • Support leadership decision-making through data insights.
  • Represent CFL at events.
  • Supervise and support your team of Data Administrative Assistants.
  • Stay up to date on best practices for collecting, storing, analyzing, and sharing data.
  • Build organization-wide data safety literacy.
  • Visit our school-based programs occasionally.
  • Participate in peer groups facilitated by partners and umbrella organizations.
  • Lead special initiatives related to the capture, analysis, and reporting of data.
  • Participate in external audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.
