Data and Automation Systems Builder

THE/STUDIOCapon Bridge, WV
Remote

About The Position

THE/STUDIO is building the operating system for product creation, combining modern SaaS technology with custom manufacturing. They operate two core platforms: Customize Now (on-demand manufacturing) and Source Anything (SaaS for working with global factories). The company is profitable, fully remote, and seeks to revolutionize the global supply chain. This role is for a builder who can take requirements and create dashboards, automated pipelines, or real-time alerts, focusing on exposing what's happening across platforms by tracking process entry/exit and identifying bottlenecks. It's described as closer to automation and systems engineering than traditional business intelligence. The individual will work with the core engineering team and Automation Engineer to connect, clean, and automate the data ecosystem. The company prefers a scrappy, technical individual who can figure things out over someone with a polished analytics background. The long-term vision is an AI-powered data engine for natural-language queries, enabling automated, data-driven decisions across operations.

Requirements

  • A Builder & Engineer Mindset: Thrives when handed an ambiguous problem, navigating it through research, experimentation, and execution.
  • Technical Foundation: Hands-on fluency with SQL and cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery or equivalent).
  • Tooling Proficiency: Deep experience with BI dashboarding (e.g., Looker Studio) and workflow automation platforms (e.g., n8n, Make, or custom scripts).
  • End-to-End Ownership: Proven track record of building and deploying functional tools from scratch.
  • AI-First Workflows: Heavy daily reliance on AI tools to accelerate development, write code, and build system prototypes.
  • Direct Stakeholder Communication: Comfortable talking directly to business leads to extract requirements without needing formal spec processes.
  • Resume/CV in English.

Nice To Haves

  • High processing power, business acumen, and logical reasoning.
  • Ability to think on your feet, connect complex ideas, and break down ambiguous problems quickly.
  • Takes 100% accountability for their domain and outcomes, looking inward for solutions.
  • Embraces blunt, constructive feedback and pivots instantly without ego.
  • Excels in a fast-moving environment requiring urgency and self-direction.

Responsibilities

  • Architect the AI Data Engine, building toward an AI-driven, natural-language query interface and automating operational decision-making.
  • Build automated pipelines and dashboards where metrics populate automatically.
  • Ship end-to-end solutions independently, building working systems from raw requirements without formal specs.
  • Deploy real-time alerting to flag process breakdowns or deviations proactively.
  • Expose stage-by-stage system events (entry/exit timestamps) across core platforms to identify and fix operational bottlenecks.
  • Engineer workflow automations linking raw data sources directly to reporting and alerting tools.
  • Solve root-cause data quality and integrity issues directly at the source.
  • Leverage AI tools as a core build accelerant in daily workflow.
  • Create clear, lightweight documentation for non-technical managers to use and navigate tools independently.

Benefits

  • Competitive, outcome-driven compensation packages tailored to the candidate's level of impact.
