Data and AI Portfolio, Director

Fiserv•Sunnyvale, CA

About The Position

The Director, Data and AI Portfolio owns Fiserv’s data and AI portfolio, taking products from strategy to client value across customer-facing AI and Enterprise AI. The role determines investment priorities and delivery sequencing across cross-functional teams, and partners with go-to-market and solutions teams to turn pilots into production deployments that clients adopt, pay for, and renew. For strategic AI engagements, the Director serves as a trusted counterpart to client and partner executives. The Director establishes a stage-gated pilot-to-production model with exit criteria for accuracy, adoption, unit economics, and risk approval. In partnership with Product Management and architecture, the role shapes a reusable platform roadmap covering models, retrieval, agent orchestration, evaluation, and guardrails. It also supports launch readiness, packaging and pricing inputs, deal support, and sales enablement; leads strategic client and partner delivery; manages model and cloud partner dependencies; and makes responsible AI a standard across releases. The role reports portfolio performance to senior leadership using a consistent scorecard and builds and leads a high-performing team of portfolio managers and product owners. The position requires extensive product, portfolio, or program leadership experience, including ownership of data or AI portfolio prioritization and investment trade-offs, and a track record taking LLM-based products or AI agents from pilot to enterprise-scale production.

Requirements

  • 10 or more years of experience in product delivery, portfolio, or program leadership.
  • At least 4 years leading data or AI portfolios, with ownership of prioritization and investment trade-offs rather than execution alone.
  • A proven track record taking LLM-based products or AI agents from pilot to production at enterprise scale, with measurable outcomes in adoption, cost reduction, or revenue.
  • Fluency in building and operating LLM applications, including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), model and prompt strategy, tool use and agent orchestration, evaluation, and guardrails.
  • Delivery experience across both Customer AI and Enterprise AI scenarios.
  • Demonstrated partnership with go-to-market and solutions teams, including supporting deals, client pilots, and launches for AI or data products.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education or experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering AI in banking, payments, or financial services, including model risk management, third-party risk, and data privacy requirements.
  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms such as OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, and Azure, and agent frameworks and protocols such as LangGraph or Model Context Protocol (MCP).
  • Experience defining AI product unit economics, including inference cost, cost to serve, and pricing inputs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the data and AI portfolio across product, engineering, and go-to-market teams.
  • Determine what to fund, sequence, or stop based on client value, revenue potential, platform leverage, and risk.
  • Run a stage-gated pilot-to-production model for Customer AI and Enterprise AI use cases, with exit criteria covering accuracy, adoption, unit economics, and risk sign-off.
  • Partner with Product Management and architecture to shape a reusable platform roadmap for models, retrieval, agent orchestration, evaluation, and guardrails.
  • Partner with go-to-market and solutions teams on launch readiness, packaging and pricing inputs, deal support, and sales enablement.
  • Serve as executive delivery lead for strategic client and partner engagements; run steering committees, set expectations, manage escalations, and translate executive feedback into portfolio decisions.
  • Manage delivery dependencies with model and cloud partners, including roadmap alignment, commercial constraints, and third-party risk.
  • Make responsible AI a delivery standard in partnership with Risk, Compliance, and Legal, ensuring releases include evaluation, human-in-the-loop design, model risk documentation, and compliance review.
  • Report portfolio performance to senior leadership using a scorecard covering value delivered, adoption, cost to serve, delivery predictability, and risk.
  • Build and lead a high-performing team of portfolio managers and product owners, and raise the standard for AI product ownership across the organization.

Benefits

  • Annual incentive opportunity for incentive-eligible associates, potentially delivered as a mix of cash bonus and equity awards at the Company’s discretion.
