About The Position

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is seeking a Data Analytics Specialist to join the Division of Surface Water (DSW) at their Central Office in Columbus, Ohio. This role is crucial for protecting Ohio's water resources through efficient data management and collaboration. The specialist will work hands-on with biological and water-quality databases, organize, manage, and extract relevant data to support division programs. They will build SQL-based reports and data visualizations to support program performance, identify trends for decision-making, and maintain reference data libraries. This position also involves acting as the primary contact for data requests and trend analysis, providing support and training to system users and staff, and leading special projects for program efficiency. Collaboration with contractors, IT teams, and staff to enhance information systems is also a key responsibility. The role includes representing the agency at conferences, workgroups, and technical meetings, and communicating with the public and interested parties on surface water information technology. The Ohio EPA is a regulatory organization committed to protecting the environment and public health by ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.

Requirements

  • 48 mos. exp. in data analytics or statistical analysis or research methods.
  • OR completion of associate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field; 30 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
  • OR completion of undergraduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field; 24 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
  • OR completion of graduate core program in data analytics, applied mathematics, statistics, industrial/systems engineering, or related field; 12 mos. exp. in data analytics, statistical analysis, or research methods.
  • OR 36 mos. exp as a Data Analytics Associate, 66930.
  • OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.

Responsibilities
