This internship is ONSITE in Shelton, CT, and candidates must be able to work in person for the full 10-week program. A Pitney Bowes Internship prepares students for the rigors of the working world while providing a professional and engaging learning experience, offering meaningful work with the potential to directly impact our business. Interns grow their professional networks by networking with fellow interns and PB employees at all levels. The vision is to offer undergraduate and masters students an engaging and thought-provoking learning experience while impacting the business in a meaningful way. Interns are spread throughout businesses, with each intern manager providing intentional learning objective goals and assigning real-life projects to own and drive during the summer. Each intern will be paired with a mentor for guidance, support, and insight into The PB Way. The wage range for this position is $22 to $25 per hour, dependent on education level, skills, and experience. The intern program runs for 10-weeks, from June 1st to August 7th, and top interns are often offered extended internships or future job opportunities. Join the SendTech Engineering organization to work on real data projects supporting logistics, ecommerce, shipping, and presort operations, building models, working with large datasets, and turning insights into solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong Python skills (required), especially with Pandas, NumPy, and ML libraries like Scikit‑learn or LightGBM.
  • Experience building predictive or forecasting models through coursework or projects.
  • Comfort with SQL and querying databases/big‑data tools (Snowflake, SQL Server, etc.).
  • Strong communication skills, problem‑solving mindset, and genuine curiosity.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with visualization/storytelling tools (Power BI).
  • Exposure to big‑data handling, time series, or geospatial data.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with internal teams (and sometimes clients) to clarify needs and shape data questions.
  • Build predictive and forecasting models using machine learning.
  • Work with large datasets — cleaning, analyzing, and modeling to uncover insights.
  • Code in Python using tools like Pandas, NumPy, Scikit‑learn, LightGBM, Plotly, and Prophet.
  • Use structured workflows such as CRISP‑DM to guide your project steps.
  • Present your findings in clear, visual formats for non‑technical audiences.
  • Collaborate on prototypes and solutions that may support real operations.
  • Explore big‑data environments including Snowflake, SQL databases, and cloud‑based tools.
