About The Position

The Data Analytics and Finance Intern will support our Finance team in analyzing tariffs and duties, improving data visibility, and assisting with reconciliation and reporting processes. This role will focus on building a structured view of tariff-related data, supporting recovery analysis, and developing dashboards to track key metrics.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an education in Finance, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or related field, required.
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups; Power Query a plus), required.
  • Basic SQL proficiency (joins, filtering, aggregations), required.
  • Interest in financial analysis and working with data, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, or similar), preferred.
  • Exposure to Python or R for data analysis, preferred.
  • Basic understanding of accounting concepts (AP/AR, reconciliations), preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or large datasets is a plus, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and gather relevant data from key sources (e.g., ERP invoices, AP/AR records, shipment or customs data).
  • Assist in organizing and structuring data for analysis using Excel, SQL, or similar tools.
  • Help reconcile tariffs/duties paid with customer invoices and credits for a defined dataset or business segment.
  • Analyze discrepancies and highlight potential recovery opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain a dashboard (Power BI, Tableau, or Excel) to track key metrics such as: Total duties paid, Amount recovered, Recovery rate, Aging of outstanding balances.
  • Present findings and insights to the Finance team.
  • Document data sources, assumptions, and reconciliation logic.
  • Assist in outlining repeatable processes and recommendations for future improvements.
  • When mandated, will need to be available to work overtime, be it daily extra hours or weekly with additional days added to the work week.
  • Individuals directed by management to operate a vehicle for work purposes will observe the requirements of the Fleet Safety Program.
  • Support, promote, and perform in a manner consistent with continuous improvement goals and the values of SSI Technologies, LLC. which includes following the policies, procedures, and requirements of our Quality Management and IS0 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
