Data Analyst - Rollins School of Public Health
About The Position
The research team of Dr. Aaron Siegler in the Epidemiology Department at Emory University is seeking to hire a Data Analyst to work on several NIH-funded studies in HIV prevention epidemiology and digital health intervention research across local and/or international settings. These studies include: Establishing a PrEP Epidemiology, Modeling and Surveillance System (PREMISE), Improving telePrEP initiation and retention outcomes in the US: The MISTR+ study, and The Elección (Choice) Cohort. The Data Analyst will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects as described above, with specific work distribution depending on experience and interests. The Data Analyst may have the opportunity to contribute to other ongoing projects in Dr. Siegler’s research lab, co-author manuscripts, and present scientific work at national/international scientific conferences if interested. The position will be based at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. The initial appointment is for 2 years, and renewal is anticipated if performance is satisfactory and funds remain available.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree and one year of experience in data analysis, statistics, or a related field, OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Nice To Haves
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or other relevant quantitative field.
- Experience with quantitative data analysis.
- Experience using statistical software to derive quantitative research findings.
- Excellent scientific writing ability
- Experience in data management and analysis using SAS, R or other statistical software.
- Experience in analysis of clinical trial and/or national claims data.
- Experience in HIV prevention or digital health
Responsibilities
- Creates and maintains a data dictionary and meta data.
- Supports efforts to ensure that data standards are developed and maintained.
- Ensures that the uses of data through reports and queries are accurate.
- Supports business and system re-engineering and architecture development to define future data needs.
- Serves as an organizational consultant on matters relating to databases by providing expertise to assist users in meeting their needs.
- Performs other related duties as required.
- Work closely with the Principal Investigator in all aspects of the research
- Develop data collection systems
- Conduct data cleaning and codebook development
- Monitor study data and provide biweekly updates to the study team on accumulating data
- Prepare analysis datasets and documentation
- Facilitate study analysis and assist faculty and post-docs in data analysis activities, including table and figure development for manuscripts
- Contribute to quantitative research efforts in the field of HIV epidemiology and prevention
- Apply statistical models and use statistical software to derive quantitative research findings
- Work as part of a team to develop scientific data from various data sources
- Contribute as co-author to manuscripts
- Contribute to data visualization output to disseminate study findings
