About The Position

Bowhead seeks a Data Analyst to support an upcoming client located in the DC metropolitan area. The Data Analyst will utilize automated management information systems and other online database services/applications to electronically capture/scan data, populate systems, retrieve data, and provide information/status updates. The role involves building new analytics and reporting capabilities, conducting data analyses using software like Microsoft O365 Power Apps, and automating data collection from various sources. The analyst will create business products for data extraction and analysis, manage client support needs, and demonstrate judgment with sensitive data. This position requires comfort in a fast-paced environment, building analytical tools for insights into business performance, developing product roadmaps, and conceptualizing automation for big data access. The role also includes troubleshooting data issues, manipulating large datasets to identify trends, and creating machine learning algorithms and statistics. Minimal DOC support may be required in the absence of other staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science/Computer Science/Software Engineering/Business preferred or other relevant combination of training and experience.
  • Four (4+) years of work experience, in Data analysis, providing systems support and maintenance in assigned product.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts and demonstrable skills in oral and written communications, examples of technical publications / conference presentations may be requested.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
  • Utilizes knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
  • Must be able to obtain a clearance at the Public Trust (NAC) level.
  • US Citizenship is required at this location.

Responsibilities

  • Build new analytics and reporting capabilities to support program evaluation and operations.
  • Conducts data analyses, using software such as Microsoft O365 Power Apps, consulting with Program Manager to identify the appropriate data, methodological approach, and design.
  • Automates the collection of data from varying sources, formats, and quality and preparing them for analysis.
  • Create requested business products for optimal extraction, analysis, and delivery of large data sets.
  • Experience having effective conversations with clients about their support needs and requirements, managing the intake process, and asking the right questions to scope and solve the requests.
  • Demonstrate judgment and discretion when dealing with highly sensitive people data and business issues.
  • Builds analytical tools to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and stakeholder data analysis.
  • Develops, coordinates, modifies, and maintains product-specific roadmaps and project plans as assigned, incorporating studies, analysis/analytics, and journeys.
  • Conceptualizes and generates automation that allows big data to be accessed and analyzed.
  • Monitors automation tools to ensure document analysis tools remains backed up and readily accessible Program staff.
  • Troubleshoots data issues within the business operations and presents solutions to these issues.
  • Manipulates large data sets and use them to identify trends and reach meaningful conclusions to inform strategic business decisions.
  • Creates advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
  • Provide minimal DOC support in the absence of the Docketing Specialist, Docketing Analyst, and the Project Manager/SME.

Benefits

  • Target hourly range is between $60-$70 commensurate with experience.
