About The Position

A Data Analyst at Kirtland Community College is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting student and college program data to support the program’s continuous improvement efforts, accreditation requirements, and evidence-based decision-making. This role is pivotal in providing data-driven insights that enhance the quality of the college’s online and in person courses and ensure the curriculum meets or exceeds accreditation standards and student learning outcomes. The position will gather and analyze data that will help faculty and administration create courses and schedules that are most productive in meeting the needs of students. This position is funded under a Department of Education Title III Grant and requires work on-site in Grayling, Michigan. This is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analysis, computer science, statistics, information technology, or a related field.
  • Documented experience in data analysis, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, SAS, R) and data visualization tools.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with online instruction.
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, analyze and report data and information for Title III grant and other mandatory reporting and data-informed decision-making.
  • Analyze program and student data to identify trends, patterns, and possible areas for the improvement of online and in person courses including instruction, scheduling, costs and all other improvements suggested by data.
  • Facilitate the development and use of interactive data dashboards and customizable reports that enable faculty, staff, and administrators to analyze and improve student support, learning and success, and that foster a culture of inquiry, improvement, and data-informed decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with the faculty and staff to design and implement meaningful and effective instructional outcomes assessment for academic, administrative and student support areas.
  • Identify equity gaps (e.g., credit accumulation, retention, completion, transfer) for remediation.
  • Participate in training faculty, staff and administrators to use data dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Support team members in leading professional development for faculty and administration.
  • Utilize statistical software and tools to conduct in-depth analysis and modeling.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports on program performance, outcomes assessment, and accreditation compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of data sources, methodologies, and results.
  • Participate in developing and implementing program evaluation activities to assess student learning outcomes.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making, provide data-driven insights and recommendations to program administrators and faculty.
  • Other duties as assigned.
