About The Position

The Data Analyst II role is responsible for performing moderately complex, technically focused analyses across a variety of data sources to generate reliable, actionable insights with minimal guidance. This role focuses on hands-on analytical execution—transforming data into high-quality reports, dashboards, and supporting datasets used for decision-making. This position plays a critical role in building and advancing IMA’s analytics capabilities and data culture. The Data Analyst II partners with analytics teammates and stakeholders across key pillars of the organization, balancing deep analytical work with an understanding of how outputs are ultimately consumed. The ideal candidate enjoys working in the details of data, applying analytical rigor and technical problem-solving, while maintaining awareness of the broader context and downstream use of their work. This role is expected to own analytical work from problem framing through delivery.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and advanced SQL skills including CTEs and window functions, with demonstrated experience using Python to write efficient queries and scripts involving multiple tables and complex logic to aggregate, transform, and prepare analytical datasets.
  • Ability to own and manage analytical work from initial concept and scoping through execution and delivery.
  • Ability to identify and succinctly communicate technical roadblocks, constraints, and trade-offs, propose potential solutions, and drive work toward resolution.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across the organization and translate analytical needs into technical solutions.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in a business or quantitative field (e.g., analytics, finance, economics, mathematics, engineering) preferred.
  • Minimum 2–4 years of full-time professional experience in a data analysis or analytics role required.
  • Limited travel required (less than 25%).

  • Experience with Power BI preferred.
  • Experience with Databricks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Jira and modern analytics development practices (e.g., CI/CD, orchestration, version control) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a range of standard and ad hoc analytical projects using SQL, Python, Excel, and Power BI, applying structured problem-solving approaches to meet business needs with minimal guidance.
  • Research, hypothesize, and develop analytical approaches to identify, analyze, and interpret trends and patterns in complex datasets.
  • Translate analytical problem statements and data requirements into scalable analytical deliverables, including the development, automation, standardization, and maintenance of reports, dashboards, analyses, and supporting datasets.
  • Analyze and interpret data using a range of analytical techniques, including descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive methods.
  • Apply data validation, quality checks, and analytical best practices to ensure outputs are accurate, reproducible, and fit for purpose.
  • Design and deliver clear data visualizations and technical summaries that support effective data storytelling and interpretation.
  • Create technically accurate, executive ready presentations and slide decks that communicate analytical results, assumptions, limitations, and implications of findings.
  • Document and communicate analytical findings, assumptions, and limitations to technical and non-technical audiences as appropriate.
  • Partner with stakeholders and analytics teammates to clarify analytical objectives, validate assumptions, and deliver technically sound analytics solutions that support business decisions.
