About The Position

Alamance Foods is seeking a motivated Data Analyst – Manufacturing & Engineering to support data-driven decision-making across manufacturing and engineering operations. In this hands-on, onsite role, you will partner with plant teams and engineering stakeholders to analyze operational data, improve processes, and deliver actionable insights that enhance manufacturing performance, optimize costs, and support strategic business decisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required in one of the following: Data Science, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science or related analytical discipline.
  • Experience working with operational, production, manufacturing, or engineering data preferred.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or food manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Experience developing dashboards and business intelligence reporting.
  • Proficiency in SQL
  • Python programming
  • Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Data analysis, modeling, validation, and cleansing
  • Power BI (preferred) or Tableau
  • Working with large datasets and relational databases
  • Data warehousing concepts
  • ETL processes and data pipelines
  • Database structures and fundamentals
  • Basic understanding of cloud platforms
  • ERP systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences
  • Strong collaboration skills across Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Leadership
  • Ability to simplify complex data into practical business solutions
  • Hands-on mindset with willingness to work in a manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Exposure to Snowflake is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and manage data across the Engineering Department, including: Maintenance and equipment performance, Facility operations, Environmental systems (wastewater, chemicals, utilities, greenhouse gas emissions), Packaging and production processes.
  • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities using operational and engineering data.
  • Perform data cleaning, validation, and integration across multiple data sources.
  • Build and maintain datasets for ongoing reporting and analysis.
  • Translate business and engineering requirements into actionable data-driven insights.
  • Support CAPEX project analysis, including: Cost tracking, Budget versus actual analysis, Return on Investment (ROI), Payback period analysis.
  • Develop financial models supporting new equipment purchases and process improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations teams to understand manufacturing processes and data flows.
  • Identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recommend process improvements based on analytical findings.
  • Develop dashboards and reports using Power BI (preferred) or similar visualization tools.
  • Track and report: Operational KPIs, Utility usage and cost trends, Wastewater and chemical usage, Maintenance performance metrics.
  • Present findings to engineering leadership and operational stakeholders.
