About The Position

The Division of Epidemiology in the Department of Population Health seeks a Data Analyst to work in two of the divisions research areas. Dr. Bozack and Dr. Eisenberg-Guyot are looking to hire a full-time data analyst who can support cohort studies on molecular mechanisms linking environmental exposures to health (Dr. Bozacks projects) and cohort studies on social-class inequities in health (Dr. Eisenberg-Guyots projects). Dr. Bozacks National Institute of Environmental Health Science-funded projects focus on epigenetic modifications and biomarkers, metal exposures, and nutrition, while Dr. Eisenberg-Guyots National Institute on Aging-funded projects aim to identify the socioeconomic causes of growing social-class inequities in mental illness and mortality over the last several decades in the US. Responsibilities will focus on data analysis but may also include literature reviews, scientific writing, and project support.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in epidemiology, data science, economics, public health, or a related quantitative field
  • Proficiency cleaning, managing, and analyzing data in R
  • Experience using common epidemiological methods (e.g., association analyses via linear and logistic regression)
  • Experience with data visualization in R (ggplot)
  • Strong organizational skills, including documentation and sharing of code
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and reference management software
  • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize and alter priorities as circumstances require
  • Able to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Knowledge of and experience applying project management principles and concepts.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using (or ability to learn how to use) g-methods (e.g., inverse probability weighting, g-computation) in standard epidemiologic settings
  • Experience analyzing survival, panel, and complex survey data
  • Experience with IRB and grant submissions

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of analytic plans in consultation with investigators; recommend solutions to analytical challenges.
  • Data wrangling and analysis, including data cleaning, calculation of descriptive statistics, and statistical modeling
  • Prepare results of analyses for review; participate in discussion and interpretation of findings
  • Create text, tables, and figures for presentations and publications
  • Document analytic methods, including by writing reproducible code
  • Lead and/or participate in manuscript and grant writing
  • Maintain regular communication with PI and other team members to facilitate collaboration
