The Data Analyst supports MSC’s growing reporting, data analysis, and data visualization efforts, expanding our existing reporting, Business Intelligence (BI), and data mining capabilities. The Data Analyst will help to strengthen MSC’s capacity to make data-driven decisions. The Data Analyst will support projects and partnerships across the organization to identify and address existing and new reporting and data analysis and data modeling needs.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in data science, information systems, quantitative field (mathematics, statistics, engineering) or equivalent certification or experience.
  • Proficient with Power BI to create dashboards and data visualizations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel to perform reporting and advanced analysis.
  • Ability to work with data in a variety of formats (JSON, XML, SQL, HTML, Text).
  • Proficient at SQL and able to automate, extract, and analyze data from relational databases.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and business intelligence best practices.
  • Track-record of problem solving and ability to work both independently and with a team.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong understanding of statistical and mathematical concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Use Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Excel to extract, prepare, and send key data to business stakeholders.
  • Create scorecards and dashboards to evaluate company performance.
  • Support the organization’s efforts to expand capabilities and utilization of data analysis and BI tools.
  • Develop analysis and data visualizations to support organizational analytical needs using all available data sources.
  • Work with key stakeholders to understand business problems or questions. Translating them into analysis, reports, and visualizations which are actionable and understandable.
  • Prepare ad-hoc data requests as requested by team members.
  • Miscellaneous assignments/projects as needed.
