About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building SpaceMobile, a space-based cellular broadband network designed to provide 4G/5G connectivity through standard smartphones worldwide. The Data Analyst will identify, develop, and implement data-driven solutions for Telco Engineering & Operations. This is a self-directed role focused on understanding business and operational problems, investigating available data, defining analytical requirements, and building solutions that improve visibility, automate manual work, and support faster decision-making. The analyst will use analytics, automation, and AI tools to explore problems, develop data models and analytical products, validate results with stakeholders, and transition successful solutions into repeatable operational use. The role involves proactively identifying opportunities, formulating requirements, developing and testing solutions, and taking successful work from initial investigation through operational use, including when requirements are incomplete or ambiguous. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
At least 15 years of experience in telecommunications, satellite communications, wireless networks, or similar technical domains.
At least 5 years managing highly technical teams in a complex engineering environment.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Engineering Management or an advanced technical discipline.
Experience with large-scale, integrated network systems in lab or pre-production environments.
Strong background in end-to-end system validation and testing methodologies.
Experience developing automated validation or testing frameworks.
Familiarity with complex network architectures and system integration.
Proven ability to replicate and troubleshoot production-level issues in controlled environments.

Responsibilities

Proactively investigate Telco workflows, data, and operational processes to identify opportunities for improved visibility, automation, and decision support.
Turn ambiguous business and operational problems into analytical questions, defining the required data, measures, logic, and tools.
Develop analytical hypotheses, explore data, challenge assumptions, and identify performance drivers.
Prototype solutions with SQL, Python, Power BI, AI-assisted development, and approved automation tools, and validate their value before scaling.
Build repeatable data transformations and analytical datasets using SQL, Python, Power Query, APIs, and approved automation tools.
Integrate information from operational systems to reduce manual reconciliation, duplicate reporting, and disconnected analysis.
Automate recurring data preparation, validation, analysis, and reporting workflows.
Partner with Digital Platforms and Information Technology when solutions require governed production integrations, enterprise architecture, or operational support.
Build Power BI dashboards, models, and analytical products that address operational and management questions and reveal performance drivers.
Perform ad hoc, trend, variance, root-cause, forecasting, and scenario analyses for Telco Engineering & Operations.
Prepare datasets and models to support planning, deployment, capacity, cost, schedule, inventory, risk, and operational decisions.
Present findings as concise conclusions, recommendations, and next actions for business and technical stakeholders.
Validate source data, analytical logic, AI-assisted outputs, and calculations against authoritative data and documented business rules.
Develop data-quality checks, reconciliation rules, exception reporting, and repeatable tests for analytical products.
Document data sources, transformations, assumptions, metric definitions, dependencies, lineage, and known limitations.
Work with accountable data owners to resolve data-quality issues at the source.
Transition successful prototypes and analyses into repeatable operational products, workflows, or governed reporting.
Monitor usage, reliability, refresh performance, data quality, and business usefulness after deployment.
Use AI-assisted development and analytics tools to accelerate SQL, Python, data exploration, documentation, testing, and workflow automation, while independently validating results.
Continuously improve solutions in response to performance, user feedback, new data, and changing operational needs.
Lead and build technical teams in a complex engineering environment.
Apply end-to-end system validation and testing methodologies, and develop automated validation or testing frameworks.
Collaborate across cross-functional technical teams and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
