About The Position

YNAB is seeking a Data Analyst to join their small but mighty team. This role is responsible for helping all departments at YNAB make decisions more confidently by advocating for the quantitative perspective and ensuring strategic conversations balance measurable impact with domain expertise. It's a hands-on position covering the full spectrum of data work, from technical to strategic, transforming data into clear, opinionated recommendations and helping shape future strategies. The analyst will also build systems to enable self-service for others at YNAB.

Requirements

  • Live in the United States and be authorized to work here without sponsorship.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in the data field in a product-driven environment.
  • Experience with Modern Data Stack tools (e.g. Snowflake/Databricks/BigQuery, dbt, Fivetran/Airbyte, Amplitude/Mixpanel, Metabase/Looker/Tableau).
  • Experience writing and maintaining SQL in a production environment (e.g. dbt models, shared queries, dashboards).
  • Confident in and passionate about using AI to do your job better, while knowing what is worth not outsourcing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a small-to-mid size company, where you wore multiple hats and worked without a dedicated data engineering team beneath you.
  • Experience working across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • B2C subscription/SaaS experience.
  • Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen data foundations, including data quality end-to-end, operational health of the data stack (Snowflake administration, dbt model development and maintenance, Fivetran/Artie pipeline monitoring, dashboard building), and treating ad-hoc requests as signals to fix root causes.
  • Increase data literacy by explaining complex topics clearly, meeting stakeholders where they are, creating trustworthy self-service tooling, providing thoughtful feedback on data work, and openly sharing insights, wins, losses, and failures.
  • Shape the future of AI in data at YNAB by exploring where AI generates the most value and where human judgment is crucial, and by being AI-fluent to leverage tools effectively while maintaining critical judgment.
  • Act as a thought partner by proactively pointing teams toward data-indicated opportunities, challenging questions before building answers, figuring things out resourcefully, forming and holding points of view with recommendations, flagging when qualitative input is needed, and having a bias toward action.
  • Transform data into clear, opinionated recommendations and help shape future strategies.
  • Build systems that allow others at YNAB to self-serve with confidence.

Benefits

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (100% premium coverage for employee and family).
  • Traditional and Roth 401(k) with company match up to six percent with immediate vesting.
  • Generous paid family leave, vacation, holidays, and sick time.
  • Minimum vacation policy of three weeks per year, plus two extra weeks for company-wide December Break.
  • Professional development stipend each year.
  • Opportunity to meet with teammates in person at least once a year (small-team meetups or biennial company retreat).
  • Shiny new computer provided and replaced every three years.
  • Annual raise and profit-sharing twice a year.
  • Four-day work week.
  • Flexible scheduling and asynchronous work encouraged.
  • Minimum vacation policy of three weeks per year.
