About The Position

The Analyst, Data is responsible for data aggregation and summarization functions. This role will take raw source data and turn it into useable information for the Insights team to then build reporting and analytics. This role will additionally support ad hoc analysis, reporting, and inquiries. This role will assist with investigating data quality issues, building new data metric source tables, and respond to and investigate accuracy and reliability issues. The Analyst, Data will be available to respond to same-day/same-week urgent requests. This is a technical role. The Analyst, Data will have a high degree of proficiency in data and data languages, able to interact with and understand RDBM systems, create tables and views, and write queries and scripts with minimal technical guidance. The incumbent is relied upon to be the data source Subject Matter Expert within their assigned area (responsibilities are split vertically by department). This role will play a crucial role in data integrity, reliability, and accuracy of what flows into end-user reporting and ultimately what guides business decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum one to three (1-3+) years experience working with data, numbers, analytics or related experience.
  • Post secondary degree or diploma required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Strong comprehension for writing SQL and working with databases.
  • Self-reliant exploring, extracting, analyzing, and presenting information with Excel (PivotTables, writing VBA code, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide meaningful analytics and visualizations.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to effectively communicate with internal and external teams.
  • High degree of trust handling confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute multiple initiatives at the same time.
  • Flexible; readily accepts change; open to new ideas.
  • Proactive, self-directed, with the ability to structure a weekly schedule to be successful.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Information Systems or Data Analytics preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compile, transform, and aggregate source data into meaningful data structures.
  • Write scripts to automate processes.
  • Perform Quality Assurance actions on data, ensuring extreme levels of accuracy and consistency.
  • Explore data error issues, recommend improvements.
  • Build and support Excel based tools.
  • Create and maintain Excel-based reporting.
  • Process change requests on existing data sets.
  • Meet ad hoc user needs.
  • Work with customers to ensure requirements are being met during build phases
  • Open communication with Data Analytics Manager to manage deadlines, project coordination, workloads, problem resolution, and general support.
  • Assist, fill in, back up, and support Business Services as needed
  • Complies with Sysco’s Food Safety Policy and procedures to ensure food safety, quality and legality requirements are met.
  • Is willing to work safely with minimal environmental impact and understands the importance of reporting all hazards, incidents, and environmental spills immediately to their Supervisor.
  • Understands that they play an integral role in their own safety and that of their colleagues and is willing to speak out when hazards are present.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
