About The Position

The Data Analyst is responsible for designing and developing reports, dashboards, and analytical tools to support business decision-making and identify opportunities for process improvement. This role involves working with large data sets to extract insights, monitor key performance indicators, and supporting data-driven strategies across multiple departments. The position requires proficiency in data querying and scripting languages such as SQL and Python, as well as experience with Microsoft reporting tools, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate. Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure, and services such as Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, or Fabric, is considered ideal.

Requirements

  • Understanding data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing
  • Detail oriented with excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage multiple projects and tasks
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of professional experience or similar internship experience in data analytics or reporting-related functions.
  • Experience using BI tools for data visualization and reporting.

  • Understanding of rail industry and repair shop operations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze supply chain data related to procurement, inventory, logistics, and demand planning to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Dashboard & Tool Development: Build and maintain interactive dashboards and automated reports using tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate to support real-time decision-making.
  • Data Integration, Management, & Structuring: Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources, ensuring data quality and consistency. Leverage SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  • Process Improvement Support: Identify inefficiencies in supply chain processes and provide data-driven recommendations to enhance operational performance at the repair shops and to reduce costs.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Partner with supply chain, procurement, finance, operations, scheduling, pre-processing and IT teams to understand business needs and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Cloud & Platform Utilization: Utilize cloud-based data platforms such as Azure Synapse, Data Factory, or Fabric for data pipeline development, storage, and advanced analytics.
  • KPI Monitoring: Track and report on key business performance metrics. Work with IT to establish data health checks for key data tables to ensure accuracy.
  • Data Interpretation & Communication: Ability to analyze complex reports and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including technical teams, operational teams, and executive leadership. Must be able to translate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations tailored to diverse audiences.
